Biography:
Makes his offseason home in Houston, Texas...attended the University of Texas- Arlington, where he majored in finance...played his freshman year at Texarkana Junior College, hitting .395 with12 homers and 33 stolen bases...earned All-Conference Region XIV honors at TJC...named to the Dean's List...played three sports, baseball, football and track, at Arlington High School, where he graduated in 2001...named Offensive MVP for District 8-5A...earned All Dallas/Ft. Worth Area Team honors...originally drafted by the Brewers in the 40th round of the 2002 June draft.

Hit .269 (160x595) with 25 homers and 83 RBI in 157 games...tied with LA's Matt Kemp for the National League lead in outfield assists with 16...16 outfield assists are tied for the third-highest in club history in a single season with Jose Cruz, 1980; Billy Hatcher, 1987; and Derek Bell, 1996...ranked second in the National League and fourth in the Majors with 37 infield hits, trailing only Colorado's Willy Taveras (38) for the NL lead...the Astros went 37-18 when he drove in at least one run and 18-2 when he drove in two-or-more runs...the club is 27-11 all-time when he homers, including a 15-7 record in 2008...tied for second in the NL and third in the Majors with 16 game-winning RBI...tied for seventh in Astros history for game-winning RBI in a single season...recorded his fourth career multi-home run game and third in 2008 on Sept. 17 at FLA (also, May 2 vs. MIL and May 23 vs. PHI)...hit .346 in May with six home runs and 21 RBI...went 5x5 on May 27, marking a career-high in hits in a single game... recorded his second career grand slam on May 20 vs. CHI off Ryan Dempster...hit a game-winning, two-run, walk-off homer on May 4 vs. MIL in the 12th inning...his first eight home runs of the season were all hit at Minute Maid Park...hit .359 (23x64) with three homers, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored during a career-long 16 game hit streak from April 30-May 18...started in right field on March 31 at SD, his first career Opening Day start.
