2007 USA Baseball Junior National Team

Eric Hosmer, 1B/LHP
Hosmer was often pitched around when he stepped to the plate as a junior for his American Heritage team in Plantation, Fla. That's what happens when you hit .548-10-38 as a sophomore. Still, Hosmer crushed the few pitches he saw, batting .398 with 9 home runs and 30 RBI, and added 10 stolen bases as well. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Class 3A-2A-1A Player of the Year each of the last two seasons, he stepped onto a high school mound for the first time last spring and was a welcome addition with a 4-1 record, 0.81 ERA and 4 saves. He also struck out 31 batters and walked just four, with the highlight coming in a district semifinal game when he struck out all nine batters he faced in three innings of relief.
