Team USA, China finale rained out

FT. MILL, SC— Team USA scored six runs in the third and then the clouds opened up, suspending the Americans’ game with Team China in the bottom of the fourth inning, leading 6-0 after an hour and three minutes. Danny Espinosa (Long Beach State) had a three-run home run and a double in the suspended game which will not be completed.
The Americans ignited for six runs in the third to lead 6-0. A two-run home by Tommy Medica (Santa Clara) started the rally, before a sacrifice fly followed by Espinosa’s first home run of the summer gave Team USA a 6-0 advantage. Four of the six runs were unearned in the inning following two errors by the Chinese.
Frankoff made his first appearance and start for Team USA after appearing in nine games at North Carolina-Wilmington as a freshman.
RHP Seth Frankoff (UNC-Wilmington), along with Scott Gorgen (UC Irvine) and Eric Surkamp (North Carolina State) were added to the roster... Frankoff appeared in seven games for Wilmington in the Coastl Plains League this summer... Surkamp was previous with the team during trials and was 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA and had a 1.85 ERA in five games in the Cape Cod League... Gorgen and Surkamp are expected to be with the team through the Netherlands tour.
The nine-game American trip will continue with the Netherlands (three games in two days) on Saturday in Durham, and Sunday in Cary (morning game), and Durham (afternoon game), before closing out with and Russia on Monday (one night game) in Cary, NC... the team closes out their schedule at the World Port Tournament in the Netherlands starting on August 2.
