Nix named 2007 USA Baseball Athlete of the Year
USA Baseball announced Monday that Colorado Rockies second baseman Jayson Nix has been named the 2007 Richard W. "Dick" Case Award winner for his play on the USA Baseball World Cup Team last November. The award recognizes USA Baseball's Athlete of the Year and honors the organization's founding Executive Director/CEO. Overall for the tournament, Nix was 12-for-31 (.387) with nine runs, two home runs, six RBIs, three walks and two stolen bases. More »

USA Baseball restructures Board of Directors
USA Baseball announced last week the restructuring of its Board of Directors. The governance change includes the addition of a seat for a Major League Baseball (MLB) representative for the first time, as well as the dissolution of the National Governing Body’s Executive Committee. The move helps USA Baseball fall more closely in line with the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Board restructuring in 2003. More »

USA Baseball, Upper Deck ink multi-year deal
USA Baseball and Upper Deck announced an exclusive agreement that will allow the trading card giant to feature members of both the USA Baseball National Team (collegiate) and USA Baseball Junior National Team (18U) on insert cards in upcoming baseball product releases. The new partnership also includes the right to manufacture trading cards of the United States Olympic Baseball Team which will compete in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. More »

Golden Spikes Award Watch List released
The initial Golden Spikes Award Watch List -- the first ever of its kind for the award-- features 75 of the nation's top collegiate talents, as nominated by baseball sports information directors across the country. The Watch List will also be "rolling" to ensure that athletes who play themselves into consideration by USA Baseball for the Golden Spikes Award are not ignored. The Golden Spikes Award is sponsored by Major League Baseball, and 2008 marks the 31st installment of the award.
