| USA Baseball announced today the names of 12 players who have accepted invitations to the 2008 USA Baseball National Team Trials. 2007 National Teamer and Vanderbilt pitcher Mike Minor headlines the list. The 2008 National Team Trials will be held from June 11-23 across the northeast and southeast U.S. Schedule highlights include a six-game friendship series against Chinese Taipei and a month-long trip to Europe where the team will compete in Haarlem Baseball Week in The Netherlands and the IV FISU World Collegiate Baseball Championship in the Czech Republic. | USA Baseball offers its first ever youth baseball summer camp |
| Beginning in late June, USA Baseball will host the inaugural USA Baseball National Team Camp. The camp, geared toward youth ages 8-17, will run from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on both Monday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 1, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. U.S. Olympic baseball team batting instructor Reggie Smith heads a list of current USA Baseball National Team players as well as past and present Olympic and National Team coaches who will help lead drills and exercises. | Olympic Manager Davey Johnson and General Manager Bob Watson were in Chicago on April 15 for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Committee Media Summit. The event was attended by more than 500 members of the media and more than 150 Olympic qualifiers and hopefuls, including swimmers Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin and Track & Field star Allyson Felix.
