USA Baseball announces pre-Olympic schedule in N.C.; tickets on sale now |
USA Baseball has announced its four pre-Olympic dates prior to the team's departure for Beijing. The four-game schedule includes one game in the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., on Aug. 1, and three games in the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham from Aug. 2-4. U.S. Olympic Team Manager Davey Johnson and General Manager Bob Watson joined representatives from USA Baseball, the Durham Bulls, the City of Durham and the Town of Cary at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham to help make the announcement. Golden Spikes Award candidates down to five |
USA Baseball has trimmed its list of 50 semifinalists for the 2008 Golden Spikes Award to five players. Buster Posey from Florida State, Gordan Beckham from Georgia, Brett Wallace from Arizona State, Aaron Crow from Missouri, and Brian Matusz from San Diego were named as finalists for the trophy awarded to amateur baseball's top player. The winner will be announced live on July 16 in New York. 2008 National Team trials roster builds |
USA Baseball announced on Monday its third round of invitations for the 2008 National Team Trials held June 11-23 throughout the northeast and southeast United States. This eight-member list is composed of five sophomores and three freshmen, joining the 26-member invitee list announced over the past month. At the conclusion of the trials, on June 24, 22 players will be selected for the National Team roster. Monday’s invitees join the likes of North Carolina’s Dustin Ackley and San Diego State’s Stephen Strasberg on the trials roster. More » |
