TEAM USA SHUTS OUT HONG KONG

TAIPEI, Taiwan --- Three Team USA pitchers combined for the shutout in a 12-0 win over Hong Kong Thursday at Tienmu Baseball Sadium.
Starter Molly McKesson (1-0) tossed two hitless innings, striking out two and walking two, before giving way to Trista Russo, who also held Hong Kong hitless in two innings while striking out five. Ashley Cook fanned three in a scoreless inning to close the game.
Third baseman Donna Mills was instrumental in the offensive effort for the second consecutive day, driving in three runs on a sacrifice fly and a double. Outfielder Lilly Jacobson also drove in three runs while batting 2 for 3 at the plate.
First baseman Tamara Ivie added a pair of runs batted in with a single to center in the bottom of the second.
Hong Kong committed six errors and fell to 0-4 in the tournament. The lone hit for Hong Kong came from pinch-hitter Wai-Yee Cheung, who recorded a triple in the top of the fifth.
Team USA improves to 2-1 and will meet Cuba Friday (Aug. 4) at 2:30 p.m.
