Dream Gala 2017 was a celebration of the "Power of Baseball" in our community. The annual event has netted $5.1 million to date, enabling the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation to contribute substantially to the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy in Ward 7, the Washington Nationals Diabetes Care Complex at Childrenâs National, the Washington Nationals Miracle Field in Montgomery County, MD, and the newly formed Washington Nationals Legacy Fields program. The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation has also awarded nearly $1 million in grants to local nonprofits that directly serve children and families in our focus areas.
Dream Gala presenting sponsor, the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, once again provided the perfect setting for this elegant evening. The festivities began with a cocktail reception and silent auction featuring the always popular Player Baskets, which showcase some of the favorite things of Nationals players and are prepared by Nationals families. After cocktails, the dinner program, emceed by ESPNâs Lindsay Czarniak, began with a formal introduction of the 2017 Washington Nationals and included remarks by Marla Lerner Tanenbaum, Chair of the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, highlighting the success of the Dream Foundation and sharing future plans. The inaugural Power of Baseball Award was presented by Nationals Manager Dusty Baker and Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy Scholar-Athlete Jayla Hines to Ross Eisenman, a life-changing Mentor at the Youth Baseball Academy.
The evening program concluded with a live auction, which was exciting as ever! Top packages included the "On the Road with the Nationals" travel package to St. Louis, the opportunity to host a corporate softball game on the diamond at Nationals Park, and a luxury vacation at Half Moon Resort in Jamaica.
The Dream Foundation and its supporters will continue to use the "Power of Baseball" to make wonderful things happen for children and families in the DMV!
