Space Shuttles awarded to Astros, Braves
By Kevin Czerwinski
MLB.com
  • More on the Series ...

MLB.com's Kevin Czerwinski will award "Space Shuttles" to the three players on each team for the National League Divisional Series between the Astros and Braves. The shuttles, similar to game balls, are a rating system based on the chosen player's performance in that day's game. The space shuttles are symbolic of Houston and the space program.

Here is the how the shuttles were handed out after Atlanta topped Houston, 7-4, in Game 1 Tuesday afternoon.

    HOUSTON

    (Four shuttles)

P Wade Miller -- He went seven solid innings, scattering seven hits and didn't walk a batter on three days rest. Who says a rookie can't pitch well in the postseason? Deserved a better fate.

    (Zero shuttles)

LHP Billy Wagner -- Looked more like Robert Wagner or Lindsay Wagner. Surrenders the game-winning homer to Chipper Jones.

    (Zero shuttles)

SS Julio Lugo -- A bad day at the plate, a worse day on the field. His eighth-inning error gives the Braves life.

    ATLANTA

    (Two shuttles)

P Greg Maddux -- The master of control isn't so masterful. He walks three and doesn't see the seventh inning. Should send roses to the Houston bullpen.

    (Three shuttles)

1B Julio Franco -- The senior citizen struts his stuff, collecting two hits and reaching base three times.

    (Five shuttles)

3B Chipper Jones -- Hello Larry. He blasts the game-winning three-run homer on Wagner's first pitch.
